Behavior Technicians (RBT) — ASL Proficiency Strongly Preferred | St. Lucie County School Vendor Badge a Plus
Employer: My Time 2 Launch, Inc. (MT2L) Location: St. Lucie County, FL (in-school, in-home, and community-based services)
Two Positions Available
We are hiring two Behavior Technicians to support the same Kindergarten-aged child across his school day and after-school hours. Candidates may apply for either position, or for both if availability allows.
Position 1 — School-Day Technician Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM Hours conducted primarily at the child's school in St. Lucie County, with some in-home and community-based time as clinically indicated.
Position 2 — After-School Technician Tuesday 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Wednesday 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Thursday 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM Hours conducted in the home and community.
About the Position
My Time 2 Launch is seeking compassionate, skilled, and motivated Behavior Technicians to provide one-on-one ABA therapy to a remarkable Kindergarten-aged child in St. Lucie County. This is a unique and meaningful opportunity for someone who is fluent or functionally proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and who is passionate about supporting Deaf and neurodivergent children.
Our client is a sweet, curious, and resilient little boy who is Deaf, autistic, and currently developing his first formal communication system. He deserves technicians who can meet him in his language — ASL — and help open up his world. The right people for these roles will have the rare and powerful chance to be the bridge between this child and meaningful communication, learning, and connection.
Why ASL Proficiency Matters for This Role
This child does not currently use spoken language and does not consistently tolerate his cochlear implants, which means ASL is his most accessible pathway to language, instruction, social connection, and the world around him. A technician who can sign with him — even at a functional level — will:
- Provide him with consistent, meaningful language input throughout every session
- Model and prompt expressive ASL during skill acquisition programming
- Communicate naturally during play, transitions, and daily routines
- Support his emerging vocabulary and emotional expression
- Help reduce frustration-driven behaviors that stem from communication barriers
We are committed to finding someone who shares our belief that every child deserves access to language in a form they can use.
The Position 1 school-day role requires that the technician be approved to work inside St. Lucie County Public Schools. Candidates who already hold an active St. Lucie County School District vendor badge will be prioritized and able to start more quickly. Candidates without a current badge are still strongly encouraged to apply — MT2L will support the badging process, but onboarding will take longer.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct 1:1 ABA therapy in the school, home, and community under the supervision of a BCBA
- Collaborate professionally with school staff, IEP team members, and the family
- Implement individualized skill acquisition programs, including expressive ASL vocabulary, compliance with instructions, and cochlear implant tolerance
- Implement behavior reduction protocols for biting, self-injurious behavior, and elopement
- Collect data accurately and submit session notes in a timely manner
- Use ASL throughout sessions to model, prompt, reinforce, and connect
Who We're Looking For
Required:
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential, or willingness and eligibility to complete RBT certification within 30 days of hire (MT2L will support training)
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate's or bachelor's preferred)
- Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a Level 2 background check
- Physical ability to safely implement behavior support strategies, including responding to elopement and self-injury
Strongly Preferred:
- Fluency or functional proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) — including conversational, instructional, and child-directed signing
- Active St. Lucie County Public Schools vendor badge (especially for Position 1)
- Experience working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing children
- Experience working with children with autism, intellectual disabilities, or complex communication needs
- Familiarity with AAC, total communication approaches, or Deaf education
- Prior experience working inside a school setting and collaborating with school-based teams
We especially encourage applications from:
- Children of Deaf Adults (CODAs)
- Members of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community
- ASL interpreting students or graduates
- Deaf education students or graduates
- Bilingual ASL-English speakers at any level of fluency
- Current or former school-based behavior technicians and paraprofessionals
What We Offer
- Competitive pay
- Paid RBT training and certification support (if not already certified)
- Support through the St. Lucie County school vendor badging process for qualified candidates
- Ongoing BCBA supervision and mentorship
- Continuing education through our in-house BACB ACE provider program
- A neurodiversity-affirming, autonomy-centered clinical model
- A supportive, collaborative team that values your skills and your voice
- The chance to make a profound, lasting difference in one child's life
