Adventure Staff
Location: Mountain Rest, SC, 29664
Position Overview
Adventure Staff guide students on safe and quality weekend trips. Trips may be local day outings or overnight camping opportunities. Each opportunity is typically academically driven that expands a students cultural awareness and/or personal enrichment. Students also have the opportunity to learn primitive camping and wilderness skills
Adventure Staff play a crucial role in our students' success. They build trusting relationships, hold boundaries, and structure daily recreational and therapeutic activities with support and guidance from the team and manager.
Schedule:
Friday - Sunday 8 am - 9:30 pm; overnight sleep hours may be required
Responsibilities:
- Provide a nurturing environment and close supervision of students
- Utilize natural and logical consequences to hold students accountable
- Employ relationship and counseling skills effectively
- Complete all necessary student documentation
- Attend, participate and complete all mandatory training
Requirements:
- Love working with children
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with youth
- Love the outdoors
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work doubles during the day and overnight on the weekends
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Pass a background check
