Tuscola Behavioral Health Systems (TBHS) has been providing services within Tuscola County since 1974. As the Community Mental Health Agency within Tuscola County, we are here to provide services to children with severe emotional disorders, adults with mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual/developmental disorders.
- This opening is located in Caro, Michigan.
- Part-time position/No benefits; This position is flexible in terms of hours; approximately 15-20 hours per week.
- Salary Range: $16.42 - $19.89 per hour
- $1,500.00 sign-on bonus available - prorated based on hours worked
(If eligible, first payment at 6 months; second payment at 12 months)
Requirements:
- Candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A qualified individual must be ages 18 through 28, with lived experience with mental health challenges as a youth and who has received mental health services as a youth or young adult, is willing and able to self-identify as a person who has or is receiving behavioral health services, and must be prepared to use that experience in helping others.
- Experience receiving services in a variety of systems (such as child welfare, education, the justice system, vocation, housing, etc.) as a youth or young adult is preferred.
- Must have or be willing to obtain the Peer Support Specialist Certification as required by MDHHS and be trained in ongoing certification and recertification model.
- Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) is required.
- Willing to work flexible hours is desired.
- Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance are required.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing support and assisting youth with community integration, improving family relationships and resolving conflicts, and making a transition to adulthood, including achieving successful independent living options, obtaining employment, and navigating the public human services system.
- Provides services in community settings and coordinates/works collaboratively with others involved in delivering the youth’s care.
- Performs hospital liaison work for youth that are hospitalized in efforts to support and encourage follow through.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and actively supports culturally competent, recovery-based practices.
