Description:
Part Time Emergency Department Social Worker, 10am-10pm every other weekend, 24 hours per week.
Job Summary:

The Clinical Social Worker provides psychosocial support to patients and families in the Emergency Department. This role includes conducting assessments, developing treatment goals, providing brief counseling, and coordinating care to address psychosocial needs. The position is part-time, working every other weekend from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM (24 hours per week).

Essential Functions:
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments of patients, families, and social systems.
  • Develop and implement treatment goals to support patient care.
  • Provide brief, solution-focused counseling and crisis intervention.
  • Act as a patient advocate and coordinate referrals to community resources.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Document all interventions and communications in the medical record.
  • Participate in on-call coverage as needed.
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Required: Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Required: Eligible for licensure as LLMSW or LMSW by the Michigan Board of Social Work.
  • Preferred: LMSW with clinical designation.

Experience:

  • Required: Minimum one year of social work experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Preferred: Two or more years of experience in healthcare, with background in community health, case management, or patient advocacy.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong critical thinking and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to maintain professional composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of psychosocial interventions and community resources.
  • Computer literacy and ability to navigate electronic systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 35 lbs, and operate patient movement equipment.
  • Emotional stability and resilience in crisis situations.
Work Schedule:
  • Shift: Every Other Weekend
  • Hours: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
  • FTE: 0.6 (24 hours/week)
