Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, full-time onsite School Psychologist to join our vibrant and supportive team serving K12 students in Detroit, Michigan. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a diverse educational environment where you will play a key role in promoting students' academic, emotional, and social development.
As a School Psychologist, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for conducting evaluations, supporting Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborating with teachers and families, and helping ensure compliance with Michigan-specific regulations. You'll have time built into your weekly schedule to complete paperwork, engage in professional collaboration, and plan high-quality indirect services.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive psychological services to students in grades K12, including assessment, consultation, prevention, and intervention.
Conduct psychoeducational evaluations to determine eligibility for special education under MARSE (Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education).
Support the development, implementation, and progress monitoring of IEPs in collaboration with general and special education staff.
Utilize culturally responsive practices when evaluating and working with English Language Learner (ELL) students, with sensitivity to linguistic and cultural factors.
Engage in meaningful consultation with educators, administrators, and parents/guardians to promote student success.
Facilitate small group or individual interventions as needed to support student mental health and well-being.
Allocate designated time weekly for paperwork, planning, indirect consultation, and case management.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with district and state guidelines.
Participate in school-based and district-wide professional learning communities and contribute to school improvement efforts.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters or Specialist degree in School Psychology from a NASP-accredited program.
Active or eligible for Michigan School Psychologist license (must obtain before or upon start of employment).
Demonstrated knowledge of Michigan special education law (MARSE) and experience applying these guidelines in practice.
Experience evaluating and supporting ELL students using linguistically and culturally appropriate tools and strategies.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust and collaborative relationships with students, staff, and families.
Commitment to equity, inclusive practices, and continuous improvement.
Additional Information:
Caseload options include K5, 68, or 912, with some flexibility based on candidate experience and preference.
This is a fully onsite position with supportive leadership and opportunities for mentorship and professional development.
