Licensed Clinical Counselor – Pediatric & Family Mental Health

Progressive ABA Therapy Group is an established and growing practice dedicated to supporting children and their families. While our company specializes in applied behavior analysis (ABA) services, we are expanding our comprehensive outpatient offerings. We are looking for a motivated and experienced Licensed Clinical Counselor specializing in Pediatric and Family mental health! In this role, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based counseling services to children, adolescents, and their families.

While you will help clients navigate general mental health challenges—such as anxiety, mood issues, and behavioral issues—a special function of this position is providing targeted, comprehensive services to children and families impacted by neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and intellectual delays. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference, foster resilience, and empower young clients and their support systems to thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations to identify mental health needs and develop personalized, family-centered treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and family counseling sessions utilizing therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, play/art therapy, and motivational interviewing.
  • Specialized Care: Serve as a dedicated resource for children with developmental disabilities (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, intellectual disabilities) and their families, providing tailored interventions, psychoeducation, and systemic family support.
  • General Mental Health Care: Treat a wide variety of general pediatric mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, and behavioral issues.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., pediatricians, speech/occupational therapists, schools) to coordinate case management, treatment planning, and wrap-around care.
  • Manage crisis situations effectively through crisis intervention techniques and conflict management strategies to ensure patient safety.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, treatment progress notes, and other healthcare data in strict compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals who have developmental delays/disabilities and their families is a strong plus.
  • Proven experience providing therapeutic care to children, adolescents, and families, with a strong understanding of family systems and child development.
  • Extensive knowledge of pediatric behavioral health topics, including diagnostic evaluation, case management, and child-specific psychotherapy techniques.
  • Skilled in managing challenging behaviors through positive behavior management strategies and adapting interventions for children with complex needs.
  • Strong background in patient care, intake assessments, and treatment planning for diverse populations.
  • Expertise in clinical documentation, data collection, and maintaining accurate medical records within HIPAA guidelines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds and effectively coordinate care with other healthcare professionals.
