The primary objectives of the Behavioral Health Supervisor is to include increasing the supervision of counselors to enhance their effectiveness and ensuring that our facility can treat patients with higher risk levels. This position aims to reduce risk and improve treatment outcomes by implementing robust supervisory practices. Additionally, the role focuses on increasing patient engagement and improving the quality of services provided to ensure the highest standards of care.
CLINIC LOCATION: South Bronx
Essential Functions
- Provide initial, annual and crisis mental health evaluations for identified patients as needed
- Maintain an average caseload of minimum of 40 patients based on determination of Clinic Director.
- Perform counseling services including individual and group psychotherapy, complex care coordination, extended evaluations, and crisis intervention utilizing evidence-based protocols.
- Become familiar with community referral resources, including IPA agreements and MOUs with related organizations, and provide referrals to patients who require outside services, following up on referrals and engagement with these services.
- Provide clinical supervision to CASAC Counselors by holding supervisory meetings at least once weekly with a focus on case analysis, person-centered treatment planning, case management and issues related to the supervisory process.
- Ensure the thorough and timely completion of program and reporting documentation in all systems including EMR, ERDS, HRA-STARS, OASAS-CDS, and manual documents as needed.
- Assess the needs of patients with co-occurring disorders and other risk factors.
- Complete MSEs and utilize other evidence-based assessments to identify patients with co-occurring disorders (either directly or indirectly)
- Complete Risk Assessments (suicide, homicide, etc.) and do appropriate safety planning and notifications
- Provide staff training to CASAC Counselors and ensure the implementation of evidence-based practices.
- Provide coaching and psychoeducation to CASAC Counselors regarding management of high-risk patients and complex care coordination.
- Ensure that CASAC counselors are adhering to all HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.
- Provide task supervision for Social Work or Mental Health Counseling Interns, if applicable.
- Attend individual and/or group supervision with clinical supervisor.
- Attend weekly Case Conferences and Multi-Disciplinary Team Meetings.
- Complete all mandatory training requirements via the Relias training platform
- Responsible for quickly identifying the major legal/regulatory issues presented in a given set of circumstances, escalating critical issues to clinic leadership
- Provide administrative coverage for clinic management as needed basis
- Provide coverage to other clinics as needed
- Perform special projects as assigned by clinic management
- Occasional travel may be required
- LMSW/LMHC/MHC-LP/MSW with Limited Permit with three (3) to five (5) years of experience in an addiction treatment services, including experience with individuals with co-occurring disorders.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a staff trainer or treatment supervisor. Evidence of excellent interpersonal relationships, effective English communication skills, (written, oral and interpersonal), ability to problem solve.
- Completion of OASAS Clinical Supervision Foundations I and II within one (1) year of hire.
- Experience in providing and documenting psychological assessments including diagnosis as described in the DSM-V, possesses a demonstrated understanding of the psychodynamics of personality and human behavior, person-centered care, and the psychopathology and treatment of substance use disorders.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.
- A strong commitment to furthering institutional performance measures through interdisciplinary teamwork is essential.
- Demonstrates advanced organizational and time management skills.
- Employee must be computer-literate with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records Systems.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Preference for OTP experience
- Credentialed Substance Abuse and Alcoholism Counselor (CASAC) preferred.
- Wing legal documents and reports, creation of correspondence documents as needed.
- Able to work outside the traditional hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- The BHS supervises the Counselors.
