Position Summary:Under the direction of the Substance Abuse Program Supervisor, the incumbent shall conduct comprehensive substance abuse treatment appropriate for designated individuals and groups, and provides counseling and follow-up services. Duties:Proficient with DSM IV and ASAM Placement Criteria and familiar with DSM 5 and new ASAM Placement Criteria.Screens, assesses and evaluates clients for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders by using case history, observation, and chemical dependency/mental health assessment tools;provides direct counseling and referral services for clients;develops individualized treatment plans, intervention, recovery and continuing care plans.Provides individual and/or group psycho educational therapy which may include but is not limited to: relapse intervention and /or prevention, medication education, relationship building, communication skills, anger management, problem solving and other techniques.Provides referrals/assists clients seeking funding and placement in residential inpatient programs; Coordinate and manages reintegration of clients into their community, work, and family lives.Completion of court reporting, court evaluations and other referring outside programs/agencies.manages and monitors caseload and required documentation using computerized record maintenance system Electronic Health Records (E.H.R.) Behavioral Health Graphical User Interface (G.U.I.) systems.Clinical recordkeeping, in accordance with the standards and requirements of the Nevada Board of Examiners for Alcohol, Drug, Gambling Counselors as well as licensed or certified and maintaining licensure or certification.Familiar with; preferably proficient with Native American culturally based -Evidence Base Practice interventions such as Medicine Wheel Teachings, White Bison, Sons and Daughters of Tradition.Familiar with legacy of Native American Historical and Intergenerational Trauma.Proficient with D.U.I counseling and DUI education/prevention.Minimum Qualifications:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in psychology or other clinical or mental health related field with at least two (2) years of professional experience in a substance abuse counseling, co-occurring or dual diagnosis counseling programs. Will consider Bachelor Degree in psychology or other clinical or mental health related field with two (2) years of professional experience in a substance abuse counseling, or co-occurring or dual diagnosis counseling programsRequired to be licensed or certified under the Nevada State Board of Examiners Substance Abuse Counselor licensure at the time of hire;and as a condition continuing employment.Nevada State Board of Examiners Substance Abuse Counselor licensure as a Gambling Counselor a plus.Moderate to advanced computer skills at time of hire; andability to communicate successfully in English in both verbally and written form.Possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.Twenty-one (21) or older at the time of hire and eligible for participation in the RSCI Vehicle Insurance Program; Must have a valid driver's license.Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings to interact with clients, families, and other resources;Must pass a recent TB testMust be able to work in a diverse minority environment.Please Note: Hiring preference is provided to qualified members of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony followed by members of other federally recognized tribes.
