Master Meter is a leading manufacturer of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) products (water meters) for the water utility industry. For over 40 years Master Meter has provided water utilities with the products and services required to maximize revenue, optimize operations, and deliver world class customer support.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Mansfield, TX. Standard work hours are 8 am – 5 pm, Monday – Friday.

Position Summary:
The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring products manufactured and assembled at Master Meter meet or exceed industry standards and meet customer requirements. 

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Sustain the quality management system to enhance organizational capabilities, compliance, and standardization efforts.
  • Assist with development and standardization of the ISO 9001 based QMS, procedures, work instructions and quality record keeping (Receiving, QA Testing, and Calibration).
  • Coordinate root cause activities with team members across the organization to drive continuous improvements through preventive actions and process improvement.
  • Partner with leadership on process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and ensure validation of capabilities.
  • Understand receiving and warehousing processes. Manage the receiving inspection process, guiding sampling and gauging requirements for existing and new products. Monitor and report data (internal and supply chain) for trends and initiate Quality Alert process, as needed.
  • Partner with cross-functional team on field return testing. Be “hands on” and comfortable using specialized tools, equipment, and calibration software, ensuring all reporting is accurate and traceable. Coordinate field return root cause analysis and activities with Customer Success Manager and Director of Quality (coordinating with headquarters R&D, as needed). Analyze returned product and verify fault classification of returns from the field.  Assist the team in diagnosing conditions that are out of tolerance from Master Meter standards.
  • Actively engage with current product/process management. Floor presence is critical to this role’s success.  Must be familiar with Gemba walks and Kaizen production floor supporting activities. Represent a quality leadership mindset, leading "quality alert" and testing activities, and being the "voice of quality" for our customers. Must utilize root cause critical thinking and present conclusions within a team setting (e.g. Gauge R&R summary for the cross-functional team). 
     
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering, Physics, Math or a related field) in addition to certifications or training in – CQA, CQE, or related training.
  • Significant and proven work experience in a Quality Team Management role with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • High-Mix, Low Volume manufacturing or “hands on” build-to-order experience.   
  • Electronics background (Experience, Academic or Military) strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Quality Tools (control charts etc.).  Lean training is a bonus. 
  • Competent technical writing: Procedures, Work Instructions, and visual aids.
  • Efficient use of MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Project, Visio, PowerPoint). 
  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis and comfortable presenting conclusions graphically.
  • Ability to work in a multi-functional and multi-cultural environment.  Spanish comprehension preferred.  Comfortable working with teams across the US, Canada and Israel, as required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to provide team leadership and guidance as necessary and as business needs change.
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to identify colors accurately and read small print – pass a visual acuity exam (corrected vision acceptable).
  • Able to occasionally bend and lift/maneuver a minimum of 25 pounds. 
  • Valid driver’s license and a willingness to visit Master Meter customers and related businesses (10% travel).
