person/Director of Clinical Services. Works in close cooperation with other team members to give personal
care to assigned residents as needed. Assists in any way possible to provide a safe, homelike, and comfortable
environment for the residents.Essential Duties:
  • Assists nurses working with assigned residents to administer to their personal needs; bathing, daily
hygiene, toileting, lifting, turning or re-positioning with the nurse.
  • Sets up and monitors residents prescribed diets during meal times.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse/CRMA.
  • Assists resident with ADLs including set up to extensive or total assist in care needs.
  • Encourages resident to achieve maximum ambulation. Following P.T. instructions/program as needed.
  • Applies anti-embolic stockings (no ace bandages).
  • Assists with bowel/bladder retraining, toileting, and incontinent care.
  • Care of prosthetic devices including hearing aides, glasses, braces, hand splints, glass eyes, etc. Assist
resident as needed with application, removal and cleaning.
  • Completes charting daily of care given using ADL documentation sheets.
  • Collect voided urine specimens, stool specimens for lab testing.
  • Colostomy care, change bag, skin care and report breakdown to Charge Nurse/CRMA.
  • Maintains standard precautions, care of linen, waste, contaminated equipment, gowning and gloving
at all times. Isolation techniques as needed.
  • Assists with personal care, baths (bed, tub, shower, whirlpool), oral hygiene, and peri care.
  • Assists with the emptying of bedpan and urinal. Check urinals every 2 hours.
  • Assists with positioning and providing comfort measures to residents.
  • Assist with post mortem care as designated by the Charge Nurse/CRMA.
  • Assists with range of motion.
  • Assists with peri care and bathing as designated by the Charge Nurse/CRMA.
  • Assists with transfers to chair, wheelchair, gurney, and mechanical lifts.
  • Unsterile application of heat and cold-moist and dry, or ice bag, rice packs.
  • Assist and apply bed devices, footboard, bed cradle, heel/elbow protectors, trapeze bar, hand,
trochanter rolls, or other pressure relieving device.
  • Assists in completing monthly weights and vital signs as scheduled.
  • Provides assistance in therapeutic activities and communication to residents.
  • Applies treatments as directed by charge nurse
  • Customer Service: Interacts with all individuals in a consistent manner, providing attention, support,
and assistance to foster an environment of exceptional personal service.o Maintains a pleasant and helpful demeanor, and presents a professional appearance toward all
internal and external customers at all times.
o Consistently initiates interaction to provide assistance to individuals who may not be direct
customers of the employee (i.e. asks patients who appear to be lost if they need assistance in
finding their way).
o Takes appropriate action to recover from a service difficulty, ensuring that the necessary action
is taken to affect a resolution to the customer’s problem.
o Conducts all work activities with respect for coworkers, including the maintenance of a
pleasant and professional environment, fostering calmness during stressful situations.
o Interacts with supervisory personnel in a professional, supportive and courteous manner,
venting emotions appropriate to time and place.
o Demonstrates a commitment to service by consistent attendance and punctuality, scheduling
absences according to departmental requirements, and incurring unplanned absences only
when unavoidable circumstances exist.QualificationsEducation and Experience:
  • High School or GED preferred but not required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain PSS within first 120 days unless already certified
  • Student must complete certification program and be placed on the State Registry within four months.
  • Residential Aide must have Residential Care Specialist 1(RCS-I), or Personal Support Specialist (PSS)
Certification. May be trained within four months of employment.
  • Six months to one-year experience preferred.
  • Must be tolerant, patient and treat residents with dignity and respect.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to engage patients and team members utilizing the CMH Experience Standards
