Salary Range: Starting Salary at $124,800.00 per year (Salary Commensurate with Experience)

Contract Length: 1 year

Location: US Navy, Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Jacksonville, Florida

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday: 8-hour shift - may require some on-call.

Core Duties

  • Practice within the guidelines of Florida’s state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and Military Treatment Facility (MTF) privileges.
  • Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate.
  • Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
  • Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
  • Assist in rehabilitation of patients.
  • Treat individuals in times of personal crisis such as divorce or death of a loved one.
  • Interview patients and study medical and social case histories.
  • Diagnose and evaluate mental and emotional disorders of individuals and administer programs of treatment.
  • Provide scheduled tele-health services to other providers and patients that are present at the MTF or clinic locations.

General Duties

  • Participate in peer review and performance improvement activities.
  • Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate people, and documenting events. Anticipate potential problems/emergencies and make appropriate interventions.
  • Apply an awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and strive to manage situations in a reduced risk manner.
  • Participate in the implementation of the Family Advocacy Program as directed.
  • Participation shall include, but not be limited to, appropriate medical examination, documentation, and reporting.
  • Exercise awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant others' rights, as identified within the MTF.
  • Participate in continuing education to meet own professional growth.
  • Attend and/or comply with all annual training classes required by the Command, to include but not limited to online annual training provided by the MTF: disaster training, infection control, Sexual Harassment, Bloodborne Pathogens, Fire and Safety, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE), and all other required training.
  • Actively participate in the command’s Performance Improvement Program.
  • Participate in meetings to review and evaluate the care provided to patients, identify opportunities to improve the care delivered, and recommend corrective action when problems exist.
  • Participate in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Provide training and/or clinical direction as applicable to supporting government employees (e.g., hospital corpsmen, students, etc.).
  • Attend and participate in various meetings as directed.
  • Perform timely, accurate, and concise documentation of patient care.
  • Operate and manipulate automated systems such as CHCS, AHLTA, ADS, Essentris, MHS Genesis and Clinical Information System (CIS), participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions, as prescribed by the Commander.
  • Exercise appropriate clinical delegation of tasks and duties in the direction and coordination of health care team members, patient care, and clinic activities.
  • Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with clinical directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) is required.
  • Graduate from an American Psychology Association accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • Successful completion from an internship/residency in Psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Psychologist in any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or US Virgin Islands.
  • Must provide three (3) letters of recommendation from practicing physicians or peers attesting to his/her clinical skills. Reference letters must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference. Letters of reference must have been written within the preceding two years.
  • BLS certification required prior to starting date.
