Your Role
As a BCBA or Behavior Therapist, you would be responsible for evaluation, creation and implementation of a strength-based, positive approach behavior plan. You would be responsible for data collection and consultation and training with families and staff. The BCBA or Behavior Therapist collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop person-centered behavior plans to support the individual behavior and skill development needs of each person served.
Responsibilities
These are the responsibilities for the position, although other duties may be assigned to meet Agency needs:
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBA) and develop evidenced based individual behavioral support plans (BSP)
  • Train staff on data collection, providing ongoing supports as needed
  • Monitor, collect and analyze behavior tracking, adjusting interventions as needed based on data
  • Maintain effective working relationships with program staff to ensure consistent approaches to behavior plan implementation and monitoring.
  • Demonstrate flexibility of time in meeting each person’s support needs, as well as that of program staff
  • Maintain weekly contact with people supported and staff in order to be able to quickly identify the need for behavioral support adjustments, staff training, and effective use of evidence-based training procedures
  • Collaborate with families and collateral service providers as needed to ensure plans are developed in a manner that fully addresses a person’s needs
  • Attend scheduled meetings to stay informed and provide information on each person supported.
Qualifications
  • Level 2: Behavior Therapist: Eligible for Department of Human Services Certification (Bachelors in human services related field, sample behavior plan, and at least 1500 hours of course work, training, or supervised professional experience [e.g. practicum hours/course work] in behavior related services)
  • Level 1: Active BCBA certification required. Level 1 BCBA’s are compensated at a higher amount.
  • Two or more years’ experience working with people who have behavioral health needs preferred, but not required
  • Experience creating individualized behavior intervention plans with an emphasis on skill acquisition
  • Experience observing and analyzing inappropriate behavior and creating positive individualized intervention plans to support the reduction those types of behaviors
  • Experience with wide range of ages is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with people served in community day or community living settings is preferred, but not required
  • Valid Drivers Licence
