Experience and Qualifications:

1. Minimum of Master’s Degree with Pennsylvania certification in guidance and counseling.

2. Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience.

3. Act 34 Clearance, Act 151 Clearances (self-paid)

4. Must have the ability to effectively solve problems in a professional manner.

5. Ability to interact with families and staff in a manner that demonstrates respect and dignity.

6. Pre-Employment Drug Screening (self-paid)

7. Act 126 & Act 71 Training Certified

8. Letter of Interest, Resume and Application Directly through the District website.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide educational, vocational, social skills and career counseling.
  • Be responsible for designing and documenting individual and group guidance sessions in conjunction with the Student Services Team, which will consist of other counselors, home school liaisons, hall monitors, administrators, other teachers, deans, psychologist and other support staff. It will be expected that the counselor will make parental contacts and conduct individual or group counseling sessions as needed.
  • Provide information for pupil appraisal (i.e., Learning Style Inventory, Career Interest).
  • Assist the Principal in student’s academic scheduling.
  • Provide liaison for students who have difficulty with other students, staff and/or are not performing to expectations.
  • Work with Student Services Team to inform pupils of their educational progress and make appropriate contacts with members of the professional staff, parents and agencies. Design and implement a plan which monitors this effort which will be reviewed quarterly and/or monthly by the school Principal.
  • Provide students with information on career and post secondary education opportunities.
  • Act as liaison between the school and the community in matters pertaining to the guidance.
  • Participate in the selection, organization, administration, dissemination and collection of standardized tests.
  • Schedule conferences with students and/or with parents/guardians to make them aware of the progress of their children. Design an educational plan and document each contract.
  • Assist the school administration in the planning and conducting of transition activities from Elementary School to Middle School and Middle School to William Penn High School.
  • Participate in the Multidisciplinary Team, Student Assistant Team (SPARK), Peer Mediation Program and CSST Progress.
  • Attend conferences, seminars and workshops as determined by the Principal.
  • Oversee the maintenance of student grade reports.
  • Use technology to increase job effectiveness and document each student and parental meeting.
  • Along with the Student Services Team, share with the principal the responsibility for the collection, maintenance and dissemination of student records. Adhere to district policies on confidentiality of student records.
  • Participate in the administration of tests for mental ability, aptitude, interest, and for other purposes.
  • Provide a system of referrals through which a child will benefit according to his/her needs.
  • Visit students in their homes and community as needed.
  • Participate in the York County School of Technology application procedure.
  • Work flexible schedule with flexible hours. Each counselor will be required to work one flex day every two weeks and/or work eight Saturdays during the calendar year with an administrator on site or on call.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or his/her designee.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $57,006.00 - $98,288.00 per year
