Summary

We are seeking a Support Specialist to join our team in Cherokee County. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with addiction and mental health challenges. Your contributions will be vital in helping clients navigate their recovery journey.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to clients in crisis situations, offering guidance and intervention as needed.
  • Conduct assessments to determine client needs and develop appropriate support plans.
  • Facilitate group sessions and workshops focused on recovery strategies and coping mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to coordinate care for clients, ensuring a holistic approach.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in compliance with organizational standards.
  • Provide mentoring and support to clients, fostering motivation and personal growth through individual, group and family interactions.
  • Must become a Certified and complete all required training for Peer Support Specialist.
  • work will with community agencies, such as EMS, Hospital and other community agencies.
  • Transport clients to meeting or inpatient as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5 years minimum in recovery from alcohol and/or drug use.
  • Experience, with or participation, in recovery support programs.
  • Strong crisis intervention skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Comfortable sharing personal recovery experience. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license.
