About Job

Position Overview:
Sparta High School is seeking a dedicated, organized, and student-centered Behavior Interventionist to lead our In-School Suspension (ISS) program. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong interpersonal skills, the ability to hold students accountable with respect and consistency, and the initiative to work independently while contributing to the overall success of our school community.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and support students assigned to In-School Suspension, maintaining a calm, structured, and respectful environment.
  • Implement restorative practices with students to address the root causes of behavior and develop action plans for successful reintegration into class.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to ensure student work is obtained, completed, and returned during ISS.
  • Provide positive behavioral support and mentoring to students, focusing on relationship-building and personal responsibility.
  • Track student attendance, behavior data, and completion of assignments while in ISS.
  • Communicate regularly with staff, administration, and families about student progress and needs.
  • Assist with school-wide behavior initiatives, supervision duties, and other tasks as needed to support a positive school culture.
  • Remain flexible and willing to jump in wherever help is needed to ensure students are supported and engaged in learning.

Qualifications:

Completed or working on a degree in education, counseling, social work, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience working with high school students, particularly in behavioral or support roles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to build respectful, constructive relationships with students and staff.
  • Proven ability to manage student behavior effectively and consistently, while remaining calm and solution-focused.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated; able to manage time and tasks independently with minimal supervision.
  • Training or experience in restorative practices, PBIS, or trauma-informed care is a plus.

Who We’re Looking For:

Ideal candidates believe that every student deserves a second chance and a structured path forward, vare firm but fair, and fhold students accountable while building them up. If you thrive when you’re part of a team that works hard to make a difference and can juggle multiple priorities, stay organized, and contribute to a positive school culture—all while keeping student success at the heart of your work this is the perfect job for you.
