Job Description
Colonial Behavioral Health provides opportunities for recovery to individuals and their family members in the areas of mental illness, substance use disorder, and developmental disabilities. Colonial Behavioral Health serves the citizens of James City County, City of Poquoson, City of Williamsburg, and York County.
We are currently recruiting for a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist position within our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program. The ACT team provides services to individuals with serious and persistent mental illnesses who have not been able to integrate adequately into the community through less intensive services. This position works with individuals providing rehabilitative services to support the individual's recovery goals.
Job Duties
Flexible work schedule, occasional weekend and holiday coverage is required.

Job Duties
- Provides direct peer recovery and support services.
- Responsible for bringing the perspective of an individual who has been the recipient of mental health treatment services to the ACT team
- Works with other team members to provide education and skill-building services the support the recovery plan developed for each individual in the program.
- Provides services in the community as well as in the individual's home.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (EEO)
- Ability to positively interact with persons with mental illness, substance use disorders and developmental disabilities, their family members, agency staff and community members.
- Must possess good personal management skills - time management, organization, dependability and independence.
- Ability to provide active listening, education and assistive supports to consumers and family members.
- One year of work experience in behavioral health services or with behavioral required.
- At least two years of psychiatric stability and/or sobriety and completion of peer based recovery specialized training. required
- Valid driver's license required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
