Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Bilingual Crime Victim Advocate to serve as a vital resource for individuals affected by crime. In this role, you will provide culturally sensitive support, guidance, and advocacy to victims navigating complex legal, social, and emotional challenges. Your energetic approach will empower victims to regain control of their lives while ensuring they receive the necessary services and resources. Fluency in both English and Spanish is essential to effectively communicate and connect with diverse communities. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those impacted by crime through active engagement, empathetic listening, and proactive intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Offer immediate crisis intervention and emotional support to crime victims in both English and Spanish
  • Assist victims in understanding their rights and navigating the criminal justice system, including family law proceedings
  • Coordinate with child protective services, social workers, and behavioral health providers to ensure comprehensive care for victims, especially children
  • Advocate on behalf of victims during court proceedings, law enforcement interviews, and community meetings
  • Provide guidance on child welfare issues, including working with children who have experienced trauma or abuse
  • Develop safety plans tailored to each victim’s unique circumstances and needs
  • Maintain detailed case records, service logs, and documentation of all interactions while respecting confidentiality standards

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of child protective services, child welfare, and family law procedures
  • Experience in crisis management and crisis intervention techniques
  • Ability to work effectively with children who have experienced trauma or abuse
  • Skilled in conflict management and behavioral health support strategies
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and the second language; cultural sensitivity is essential
  • Background in social work, criminal justice and/or education, or related fields, enhances effectiveness in advocacy roles
  • Proven ability to manage stressful situations calmly while providing empathetic support
