Hospice Spiritual Counselor
Everlight Hospice is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dedicated Hospice Spiritual Counselor to join our growing interdisciplinary team. This position provides spiritual and emotional support to hospice patients and their families throughout the end-of-life journey while ensuring care is delivered in accordance with CMS and Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR).
We are looking for someone who is empathetic, patient-centered, and experienced in hospice care. Hospice experience is required for this role.
Responsibilities
- Provide spiritual care, counseling, and emotional support to hospice patients, families, and caregivers
- Assess and document spiritual needs in the EMR in compliance with CMS and OAR standards
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to support holistic patient care
- Offer prayer, spiritual guidance, religious or non-religious rituals based on patient preferences
- Provide grief support and bereavement counseling
- Participate in IDG/interdisciplinary meetings
- Educate staff and volunteers regarding spiritual care at end of life
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and ensure HIPAA compliance
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 years of hospice experience required
- Experience in chaplaincy, pastoral care, spiritual counseling, or grief support
- Master’s degree in Theology, Divinity, Pastoral Care, or related field preferred
- Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) preferred
- Strong understanding of hospice philosophy and end-of-life care
- Knowledge of Medicare Hospice Benefit and Oregon hospice regulations preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work respectfully with individuals of diverse cultural, spiritual, and religious backgrounds
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with bereavement support and grief counseling
- Training in crisis intervention and pastoral care for terminally ill patients

Work Environment
This is a field-based position involving visits to patient homes, assisted living communities, and skilled nursing facilities. Flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call support may be required.

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
