Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)
Position Summary
The Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) provides substance use counseling services within a residential treatment setting. This position facilitates group counseling sessions, assists with treatment planning and clinical documentation, and supports residents throughout the recovery process.
The CADC works under the supervision of a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) in accordance with Maine regulations and agency policies. This position may be appropriate for individuals actively obtaining clinical supervision hours as well as those who have already completed required supervision hours.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Maine Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) certification in good standing
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, recovery principles, and trauma-informed care
- Understanding of confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Experience in residential treatment preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Counseling Services
- Facilitate psychoeducational and process groups for residents in residential treatment
- Support residents in developing recovery skills and relapse prevention strategies
- Encourage resident participation and engagement in treatment programming
- Assist with crisis intervention and emotional support as needed
- Support implementation of individualized treatment goals
Documentation and Clinical Support
- Complete clinical documentation in accordance with Maine regulations, MaineCare standards, and agency policy
- Assist with treatment plans, progress notes, discharge planning, and other required clinical records
- Maintain timely, accurate, and professional documentation
- Collaborate with the clinical team regarding resident progress and concerns
Supervision and Professional Development
- Participate in regular supervision with a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS)
- Attend weekly clinical supervision and staff meetings
- Maintain compliance with all credentialing and continuing education requirements
- Seek guidance appropriately regarding clinical concerns and scope of practice
Compliance and Program Expectations
- Follow all Maine DHHS licensing requirements and ASAM standards applicable to residential treatment
- Maintain resident confidentiality and professional ethics at all times
- Adhere to agency policies, procedures, and code of conduct
- Assist in maintaining a safe, respectful, and recovery-oriented treatment environment
Full-Time or Part-Time
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a residential treatment environment
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and participate in group activities
- Ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
