We are seeking an energetic and motivated Summer Camp Head Counselor to lead our seasonal program. In this role, you will oversee daily camp activities, ensure the safety and well-being of all children, and foster a fun, inclusive atmosphere. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact on young campers’ summer experience while demonstrating leadership and childcare expertise.

Duties

  • Lead and supervise camp activities, ensuring they are engaging, safe, and inclusive for children of various ages and backgrounds
  • Manage a team of counselors, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to promote teamwork and high-quality care
  • Enforce safety protocols by conducting regular safety checks, maintaining discipline, and responding promptly to emergencies with first aid or other necessary interventions
  • Coordinate with activity specialists in areas such as sports coaching, theater, or arts & crafts to deliver diverse programming
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding camper progress, behavior, and camp updates
  • Maintain detailed records of attendance, incidents, and daily reports to ensure smooth camp operations
  • Foster a positive environment that promotes childhood development, behavior management, and social skills

Experience

  • Proven experience working with children in settings such as daycare, summer camp, tutoring, or childcare environments
  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to handle diverse behaviors constructively
  • Knowledge of first aid procedures and certifications preferred; ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
  • Background in special education or early childhood education is a plus
  • Experience in sports coaching, theater arts, or babysitting enhances the ability to lead varied activities effectively
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise staff and coordinate team efforts
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and team members effectively
