About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, Defense Health Network East at Martin Army Community Hospital located at Fort Benning, Georgia. within the Department of Mental Health.
Common Duty Hours: Mon-Fri, 0730-1700

Duties
- Collect bio-psycho-social information about patients using interview, case history, observation techniques, and assessment methods.
- Evaluate results of counseling methods to determine the effectiveness of treatment used.
- Consult reference material to identify symptoms, make diagnoses, and develop therapeutic treatment plans.
- Utilize social work systems and psychological theories, principals, and techniques in treatment plan development.
- Work with multi-disciplinary treatment staff to synchronize efforts across the continuum of care.
- Document outcome, assessment results and high-risk clinical issues.

- This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Clinical):
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which conducting psychiatric evaluations on patients, providing individual or group counseling to patients, and developing treatment plans for patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
