The Mental Health Crisis Worker provides compassionate, real-time support to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises during overnight hours. In this hybrid role, you’ll respond both remotely and onsite across multiple counties, offering crisis intervention, de-escalation, emotional support, and safety planning. This position requires strong communication skills, collaboration with community partners, and a commitment to trauma-informed, person-centered care.

Description

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, emotional support, and safety planning by phone or in person.
  • Collaborate with emergency services, hospitals, and other community partners.
  • Document all interactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Help individuals access ongoing care and support services.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to ethical standards of care.
  • Drive to multiple community locations to provide services.


Qualifications:

  • Qualify as a Mental Health Professional (MHP) in the state of Illinois through one of the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in any other field with at least two (2) years of direct mental health fieldwork experience, OR
  • Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) with at least one (1) year post-certification experience, OR
  • High school diploma with at least five (5) years of direct mental health fieldwork experience.
  • Strong communication and crisis management skills.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed and person-centered approaches.
  • Lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery is a plus.
  • Must be local to our service area for hybrid scheduling.


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hourly Rate: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

Weekly Schedule:

  • Tuesdays – 12-hour shift – 8pm-8am
  • Thursdays – 12-hour shift – 8pm-8am
  • Fridays – 12-hour shift – 8pm-8am
  • One (1) weekday – 4-hour shift – flexible depending on availability

Salary

$20 - $24 per hour
