KindMind Behavioral Health is an outpatient mental health therapy and psychiatry practice in Rochester and Clarkston, Michigan treating patients struggling with a wide variety of mental health concerns. Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant (MA) that shares our passion and aligns with our mission. The responsibilities of the MA include:
- Obtain and document patient vital signs.
- Submit and track prior authorization requests and communicating updates to providers and patients as appropriate.
- Manage prescriber emails/messages and complete assigned tasks.
- Answer incoming phone calls from patients by addressing routine questions, providing general information, and directing clinical or urgent matters to the appropriate provider.
- Scheduling follow-up appointments.
- Manage and return patient voicemails.
- Contact patients prior to scheduled appointments to obtain necessary information.
- Receive, review, and distribute incoming faxes and prepare outgoing faxes as needed.
- Manage any time-sensitive changes in prescriber schedules, when available.
- Prepare and coordinate laboratory orders.
- Process psychiatric medical record requests.
- Scheduling drug representative lunches as requested by prescribers.
- Assist prescribers with additional administrative or clinical duties as needed to support efficient workflow, continuity of care, and high-quality patient services.
The MA will be supported by the Operations Manager, providers, and office staff in executing these functions.
Qualifications
1. Associates or Bachelor’s degree (required)
2. Prior experience as a Medical Assistant or related role (required)
3. Behavioral health experience (preferred)
4. Medical Assistant certification not required
Skills
- Proficient with standard office technology (email, phone, computer, Word) and the ability to learn and use an Electronic Health Records system
- Willing to learn and be receptive to training and constructive feedback in an effort to develop autonomy and work independently
- Strong sense of professionalism
- Ability to multitask when needed and capable of working with interruption
- Capable of exhibiting strong interpersonal skills, compassion, and “emotional intelligence”

Compensation
- Competitive hourly wage
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
