Join our compassionate team as a PAWS Shelter of Central Texas' Off Site Cat Care Giver & Adoption Counselor, where your enthusiasm & animal-loving spirit will make a meaningful difference in the lives of cats & prospective adopters alike. This dynamic role combines hands-on animal care with engaging community outreach, ensuring each feline friend receives the attention they deserve while guiding potential adopters through their journey to find a new family member. You’ll be the friendly face behind off-site cat care operations fostering positive experiences & promoting responsible pet ownership.
Job Description:
- This position is part time (30-35 hrs/week) & some weekend days are required.
- This would be at 1 of our local Petsmart cat off site locations. These days would involve cleaning & caring for our cats (socialization & enrichment) as well as handling any meet & greets & adoptions that take place.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handle animals with gentle, proper handling techniques to ensure safety & comfort for cats.
- Detailed cleaning of our cattery including but not limited to litter boxes, sweeping & mopping, bedding & sanitizing while also monitoring health statuses.
- Support adoption efforts by counseling prospective adopters, answering questions about cat behavior & care requirements & facilitating smooth adoption processes.
- Co-managing the off-site events calendar to ensure all events are promoted properly & timely with our Event Coordinator
Qualifications
- Prior experience in animal handling or pet care is highly desirable; familiarity with light animal medical is a plus.
- Experience in the animal rescue field – a plus
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively & empathetically with potential adopters & community members.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting & standing for extended periods; comfort working in outdoor environments.
- Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Google Products.
- Ability to work individually & in a team environment & assist with other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
- Candidate must be able to lift & manage 30~ish lbs. when necessary to transport supplies or assisting with kennel setup, always prioritizing safety protocols
- Candidate must have a good driving record
Work Location:
- On location at a Petsmart cattery & on the road between our Kyle campus & sometimes to our Dripping Springs campus.
