Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Counselor to provide comprehensive mental health support and counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in clinical counseling, with expertise in psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and behavioral therapy. The counselor will utilize evidence-based techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic therapy to promote mental well-being and growth. A commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, attention to detail, and client-centered care is essential to succeed in this position. Position includes 2 evenings weekly or one evening and Saturday. This can be a full-time or part-time position. Licensure determines pay rate. Full time includes full benefits.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilize DSM-5 coding systems to determine client needs.
- Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating modalities
- Provide individual counseling sessions focused on mental health issues
- Implement crisis management strategies and crisis intervention techniques to support clients experiencing acute distress or emergencies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management, medical documentation, and patient care while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize telehealth platforms effectively for remote counseling sessions while maintaining high standards of patient engagement and confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using appropriate medical terminology and diagnoses for billing purposes.
Experience
- Proven experience in clinical mental health counseling
- Demonstrated expertise in psychotherapy techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, addiction counseling, grief counseling, and trauma-focused care such as PTSD management.
- Experience working with diverse populations including children, adolescents, and geriatrics
- Familiarity with ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for diagnostic evaluation and medical record keeping.
- Prior telehealth experience is highly desirable; ability to adapt counseling methods for remote delivery effectively.
- Knowledge of therapeutic principles
- Background working within hospital or clinical environments that require adherence to HIPAA standards for patient privacy and data security.
