Knowledge Road is hiring a part-time Mental Health Counselor to join our team and offer critical psychological services for students in New York City Department of Education (DOE) schools. With an exceptional need for mental health services in schools and a substantial shortage of qualified professionals, your expertise is urgently required to assist students in navigating complex emotional and behavioral challenges. This role offers you the chance to make a significant impact in the lives of children and adolescents using evidence-based psychological interventions.As a Mental Health Counselor with Knowledge Road, you will have the flexibility to provide personalized interventions, collaborating with school teams and families to support student mental health and academic success.ResponsibilitiesAs a Mental Health Counselor with Knowledge Road, you will:Deliver direct, high-quality individual and group counseling services for students, as required by their Individualized Education Service Programs/Individualized Education Programs (IESP/IEP).Address a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioral issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and other complex psychological conditions.Perform psychological assessments and evaluations to guide treatment planning and educational recommendations.Create and execute evidence-based treatment plans using various therapeutic modalities customized to the unique developmental and cultural needs of each individual student.Work closely with parents, teachers, school administrators, and other mental health practitioners to build a holistic and supportive learning environment.Keep detailed and timely documentation of all services, progress, and results per DOE regulations, HIPAA requirements, and Knowledge Road standards.Take an active role in IESP/IEP meetings, providing expert psychological insights and recommendations to support student progress and educational planning.QualificationsValid NYS license as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or related field.At least 2 years of experience providing psychological services for children and adolescents.Competence with electronic documentation systems and teletherapy platforms.NYC DOE fingerprinting and vendor status required or willingness to obtain before start date.Preferred Qualifications: Experience in school-based settings or educational environment.Specialized training in child and adolescent therapy modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, play therapy, family therapy).Experience conducting psychological assessments and testing.Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin, or other languages prevalent in Brooklyn schools.Current OpeningsWe are currently seeking candidates for part-time Mental Health Counselor positions in the Manhattan area.Schedule & Location:This is a part-time, school-day position follows a schedule aligned with the NYC DOE calendar. Services will be provided on-site at one or more schools in Manhattan, with placements based on student needs. Weekly hours are determined by IESP/IEP mandates; caseload may vary by placement.
