Community Support Specialist
BCRC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Support Specialist to provide direct, person-centered support to individuals with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities. The primary goal of this role is to empower participants to achieve greater independence in their daily lives, foster meaningful social connections, and successfully transition into or maintain integrated employment.
Schedule:
- Five weekdays
- Daylight hours- 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM
- No weekends, holidays, no evenings
- Some flexibility may be required dependent on employment needs of participants
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support for essential life skills, including community engagement, meal planning, financial literacy, and use of public transportation.
- Provide support in identifying career aspirations, conducting job searches, and preparation for applying for jobs and interview participation.
- Provide job coaching to help individuals master tasks, understand workplace culture, and meet employer expectations.
- Use BCRC’s software program to document and maintain accurate records of participant progress and goal achievement.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid Driver’s License
- Experience: Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required
Physical & Environmental Demands:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, bend, twist, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
