JOB
The Student Success Counselor reports directly to the Assistant Director of Student Success. The position is part of a team tasked to provide admissions counseling, academic advising, supportive counseling, personal and academic development, and workshops; serve on college committees; coordinate services with faculty and college personnel; and make referrals to outside agencies.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Student SuccessProvide an extensive case-management program of counseling to include, but not limited to: career counselingproactive admissions/enrollment counseling, to include the limited enrollment processcrisis counselingProvide support to the career services program by providing career exploration services to new students, providing guidance on changing majors, assisting with job fairs and resume/interview workshops as needed.Use designated communication software to provide outreach to applicants and students, to streamline admissions processes and communications, and to maintain consistent contact and responsiveness to applicants and students.Provide a counseling format to facilitate development of academic, social, and personal needs using group and individual techniques as needed with adequate referral proceduresProvide student registration services for the first semester and educate new students on college policies and proceduresEducate new students about resources available and how to access them to facilitate success in the first semester.Provide assistance with college retention efforts by assisting students on academic probation as needed and managing the readmission process for students on the counselor’s caseload who are returning from academic suspensionProvide assistance with recruiting efforts, including, but not limited to helping with tour groups, senior workshops, follow-up visits, and other recruitment activitiesRespond to Care Team Reports as assigned, coordinate services for students on or off campus, and document interactions and follow-up procedures.Participate in Mental Health First Aid training and provide assistance to the MHFA Response Team on campus.Provide assistance with services in the REACH Program to assist students in accessing campus and community resources to address barriers to academic success.Participate in campus events to promote resources and connect with students. This may include SGA events, resource fairs, orientations, etc. Provide assistance with pre-/co-requisite review processEnsure program duties/processes are completed according to regulatory requirements and institutional expectationsCoordinate programs, as assigned, to ensure exemplary customer service, as well as compliance; educate students, faculty, and staff on availability of student resources through marketing, class presentations, and communication campaigns.Coordinate and/or provide resources and training for the college, as needed, regarding laws, regulations, policies and procedures for programs and services managed by the Office of Student SuccessReview and recommend changes to policies and procedures for programs and services managed.Review and recommend changes to student services policies and procedures.Prepare reports as requested.Monitor, oversee, and coordinate with external and internal partners new and existing programs to ensure compliance with the college’s mission.Review and implement changes to processes and procedures to improve efficiency and effectivenessPromote collaboration, teamwork, and involve all stakeholders in the decision-making process.Financial ManagementComplete requisitions and other financial paperwork in a timely manner.If applicable, administer the use of grant funds ensuring compliance with the grant(s).Submit budget recommendations to the Director of Student Success.Customer ServicesPractice exemplary student customer service skills.Practice exemplary colleague customer service skills.Create an environment that facilitates radical hospitality.
