  • Seeking passionate, results-driven Youth and Family Support Counselors for our quickly expanding Multisystemic Therapy (MST) program. Virginia Therapy Services MST programs are ecological, evidence-based programs directed at youth and their families. MST uses the collaboration of community-based resources such as caseworkers, probation/parole officers, and school professionals. Community-Based therapists and clinicians concentrate on empowering parents and improving their effectiveness by identifying strengths and developing natural support systems and removing barriers.
  • As an MST on our team, you will be responsible for providing in-home assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention and advocacy to adolescents and families. You will also be responsible for maintaining fidelity to the MST or MST-PSB model and coordinating with all members of the treatment team to achieve targeted outcomes within the allotted timeframe.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Level or higher professional with the major field of study being social work, psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or other human services field. New graduates welcome!
  • LMSW, LPC, LCSW, or LMFTs are also highly encouraged to apply.
  • Prior experience in the delivery of mental health services in the home/community to children and families with complex needs is essential, but our thorough training program will equip you and the families for success!
  • This position requires flexibility of schedule and ability to travel in response to the needs of families. The ideal candidate(s) will provide psychoeducational support, mentoring services, community-based crisis de-escalation support, family relationship building, parenting skills training, social skills training, anger management skills, self sufficiency and self management skills, academic and vocational guidance, community awareness, personal responsibility training, and goal setting. Case management and life skills training will also be provided to enhance independent living skills.
  • Actively work to ensure client and community safety through the development, implementation, monitoring and ongoing revision of a comprehensive individualized safety plan for each client/family served.
  • Engage primary caregiver(s) and other key participants in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.
  • Actively provide family therapy, parent training, cognitive behavioral therapy, skills building, school and other community system interventions, and clarification work to each client/family served.
  • Conduct MST assessment including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and developing an analysis of the fit of problem behaviors within the ecological context.
  • Actively participate in weekly group supervision and weekly phone consultation; participate in individual supervision as directed/requested.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with MST Principles and the MST Analytic Process.

Pay: From $35.00 per hour
