Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive mental health services, including individual, group, and family therapy, to diverse populations. This role involves conducting diagnostic evaluations, developing treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based interventions in a private practice setting (telehealth and in-person). The counselor may also collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care and support clients in achieving their mental health goals.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans incorporating modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance/movement therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
- Provide individual and family counseling sessions addressing a wide range of issues including trauma, grief, addiction, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, PTSD, chronic pain management, and behavioral challenges.
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques and crisis management strategies to support clients experiencing acute mental health crises.
- Engage in case management activities to coordinate care with medical providers, social workers, educators, and support staff.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Stay current with medical terminology related to behavioral health and utilize ICD coding effectively for documentation purposes.
- Provide telehealth services utilizing secure platforms while adhering to all legal and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patients with disabilities or special needs in inpatient or outpatient settings.
Requirements
- Valid licensure as a Mental Health Counselor or equivalent credential.
- Proven experience in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, addiction counseling, grief counseling, or behavior management.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems and medical documentation standards (Or willing to learn)
- Experience working with children, adolescents, geriatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder preferred. Or MUST be willing to learn about ASD and other developmental disabilities.
- Skills in crisis intervention, crisis management, social work practices, and patient assessment are essential.
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms and HIPAA compliance protocols.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in outpatient settings.
- Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on patient care and case management.
