We have an opening for a School Psychologist or Social Worker to start Immediately
General Description: The School Psychologist/Social Worker is responsible for providing direct and indirect service to students consistent with the integration and collaboration model of LearningSpring School. In this capacity it is expected that the School Psychologist/Social Worker will establish collaborative relationships with parents and staff to ensure the success of our students
Key Responsibilities:
- Use a variety of therapeutic approaches in working with students on the autism spectrum to meet counseling goals as stated on their Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Interpret clinical evaluations in order to assess level of functioning, needs of each child, and inform therapeutic interventions.
- Conduct ongoing formal and informal observations in the classroom and coordinate professional practice with pedagogic staff, including the provision of classroom consultation.
- Maintain ongoing communication with classroom teachers and parents about progress of the students formally in written progress reports, as well as informally via frequent phone and email communication whenever needed.
- Participate in the IEP process by collaborating with teachers and therapists to develop appropriate goals and writing appropriate goals relative to students on caseload and participating in IEP meetings when needed.
- Develop and maintain documentation and communication around Supportive Intervention Plans to address challenging student behaviors.
- Attend all scheduled meetings, including weekly classroom meetings, supervision meetings and program planning meetings.
- Timely completion of all session notes, attendance, and other necessary documentation.
- Applicant must be willing to be trained as a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) trainer, following this training, applicant would be responsible to: Support students and staff during crisis situations, support staff in creating proactive strategies for students, complete appropriate TCI documentation for student reports/file, conduct post crisis meetings, staff and parent training.
- Conducting Functional Behavior Assessments for students identified as persistent behavior that impede their learning or social functioning.
Position Requirements:
- Certification and Master’s Degree in School Psychology or Licensed Social Worker
- Preferred: At least two years of experience working with students diagnosed on the autism spectrum.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and hold children and equipment when required.
- Must be fingerprinted by the New York City Department of Education and cleared to work in a school.
