Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Psychiatric Technician to provide professional mental health and nursing care services in a correctional healthcare setting. The Psychiatric Technician will work under the direction of the facility’s CEO, CNE, or their designee, providing essential psychiatric and behavioral healthcare to patients in a safe and secure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to individuals with mental or developmental disabilities.
- Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitor patients exhibiting symptoms of mental illness.
- Administer medications and treatments, including injections, and record vital signs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Doctor (MD).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams to develop and implement treatment plans and goals.
- Assist in developing and leading group or individual therapy sessions.
- Coordinate and prepare clinical appointments, ensuring patient attendance and readiness.
- Observe and report any significant changes in patients’ physical or mental conditions.
- Perform emergency response duties, including CPR and first aid when required.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation following facility protocols.
- Promote a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment for patients and staff.
