The Clinical Director supervises clinical staff, maintains compliance, ensures proper documentation and workflow, and may provide clinical sign-off on progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, and other documentation as required by licensure. The role requires strong competency in working with diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ clients, and familiarity with areas such as substance use, trauma, co-occurring disorders, and issues related to sexualized drug use.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all clinical services across Residential, PHP, and IOP, ensuring high-quality care delivery.
  • Provide weekly individual and/or group supervision to licensed and unlicensed clinical staff.
  • Review and sign off on clinical documentation as needed, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Ensure cohesive communication and alignment across all levels of care.
  • Lead the treatment team in case conceptualization, risk assessment, and clinical decision-making.
  • Provide leadership during crises, escalations, and complex clinical situations.
  • Oversee daily clinical operations, staffing, scheduling, and group programming.
  • Ensure treatment plans and documentation meet internal, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead clinical quality assurance initiatives and maintain alignment with Joint Commission and DHCS standards.
  • Oversee clinical aspects of admissions, level-of-care determinations, and step-down transitions.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team on program development, expansion, and improvement.
  • Ensure that all clinical services are LGBTQ-affirming and culturally responsive.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on LGBTQ+ topics, identity development, trauma, and clinical best practices.
  • Offer clinical consultation on cases involving sexual identity, relationships, and sexuality-related concerns.
  • Maintain familiarity with issues related to sexualized drug use/chemsex and provide clinical guidance when relevant, without being positioned as a program specialty.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Active, unrestricted California licensure as LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, PsyD, or PhD (must meet supervision requirements).
  • Minimum five years of clinical experience in behavioral health, with at least two years in leadership or supervisory roles.
  • Experience overseeing multidisciplinary teams in residential and outpatient treatment settings.
  • Strong competency in working with LGBTQ+ clients and understanding identity, trauma, and family/system dynamics.
  • Knowledge and clinical familiarity with issues related to sexualized drug use/chemsex, sexual trauma, and relational dynamics (not required to be a specialty area).
  • Thorough understanding of ASAM criteria, DSM-5, and evidence-based clinical practices.
  • Ability to supervise and sign off on clinical documentation for licensed and unlicensed clinicians.
  • CPR/First Aid, TB clearance, and I-9 documentation required upon hire.
