Position Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Admissions Counselor represents the College to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, and other individuals and organizations involved in the college selection process. In addition, the Counselor assists in planning and implementing recruitment activities for assigned high schools and territories, advises prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the College, and provides one-on-one admissions advice to a diverse population of potential students. An Admissions Counselor is an individual with integrity and high moral character who is adept at working within a diverse community.

SALARY RANGE: $62,000 - $64,350/Annually

Essential Functions And Basic Duties

  • Recruits prospective students by conducting on-site high school visits and attending college fairs in selected territory.
  • Increases applications and confirmation activity through cultivating relationships within a given territory and accurately forecasting enrollment within the territory to meet goals.
  • Advises students in the inquiry stage on the admissions process and opportunities at the College, and deploys a personalized approach to ensure high conversion/yield rates.
  • Actively engages in ongoing strategic communications using phone calls, text messaging, and email to ensure high conversion/yield rates.
  • Maintains ongoing, thorough knowledge of LIM’s academic, co­curricular, and financial aid programs to ensure we are providing comprehensive, accurate information that will allow all parties to make informed decisions.
  • Assists with the daily operations of the Office of Admissions, as needed.
  • Attends on-site and remote functions, such as college fairs, college nights, secondary-school events, community events, and other recruitment/cultivation events.
  • Makes referrals to appropriate student support services and resources.
  • Utilizes Excel for recruitment tracking.
  • Assists with high school dual-enrollment recruitment initiatives, events, and registration.
  • Assists with on-campus activities, including open houses and accepted-students days.
  • Assists with the review and data entry of admissions applications.
  • Reviews high-school transcripts and related documents for acceptance.
  • May coordinate communication with the student internal and external offices regarding results of transcript evaluations and standing in the admissions process.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: The person selected will have the following qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree

Experience

  • Experience with college admissions recruitment or related field, such as sales
  • Experience communicating with a diverse group of students, staff, faculty, and members of the community
  • Experience with new student orientations, planning, and leading campus activities
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience utilizing multiple systems and transitioning between tasks

Position-Specific Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel throughout the tri-state region and mid-Atlantic
  • Ability to travel and transport admissions materials, displays, and other equipment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and always use discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience in admissions office operations and related procedures
  • Experience with college CRM systems
