As an Employment Counselor, you will assist refugees, and asylees find appropriate employment through the Refugee Employment Services (RES) program. This position will determine program eligibility, provide orientation, conduct client assessments, and prepare the client for employment through pre-employment training and job coaching.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, political science and/or experience working in human services or social work field
  • Six-twelve months of experience providing social services to refugees or immigrants preferred
  • Be receptive to the nature of social work in the U.S. including the concepts of boundaries, confidentiality, and empowerment
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Effective communication skills
  • Bilingual and bicultural preferred
  • Skills in computer operation
  • Sensitivity towards issues that affect a person’s ability to obtain and retain employment
  • Experience working with diverse populations in an employment counseling or rehabilitation setting is preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a car
