We are a dedicated Family Support Organization that values the power of lived experience in mental health recovery. As a Child Peer Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our organization, providing individualized support to our clients in the community. You will work under the supervision of the Support Specialist Supervisor and report to the Director of Operations. Your role will involve assisting clients in developing treatment goals, enhancing their social and interpersonal skills, and helping them manage the effects of psychiatric or emotional symptoms. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about mental health and are eager to make a difference in the lives of our clients.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual Peer Support Specialist services in the community.
- Assist clients in developing treatment goals within the first 30 days of service.
- Help clients restore, rehabilitate, and develop social and interpersonal skills.
- Identify, enhance, and establish support networks, community awareness, and coping strategies.
- Assist in improving clients' self-management of psychiatric or emotional symptoms.
- Participate in collaborative meetings with Behavioral Health Services staff and other community supports as needed.
- Communicate clients' status regularly, including changes in mood or functioning, medical issues, and all crisis and health and safety issues.
- Attend all office trainings and regular supervision sessions.
- Document services provided regularly, concisely, and completely in accordance with clinical standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Self-identify as a current or former consumer of mental health services.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 6 months in self-directed recovery within the last year.
- Self-identify as a first-degree family member.
- Ability to use computer interface for documentation and billing purposes.
