The Hiatt Career Center at Brandeis University is looking for an innovative and entrepreneurial career counselor to work with students and alumni. You'll work with all students and alumni, with an emphasis on those in the social sciences and social policy, including students pursuing careers in government, law, and community-focused fields, as well as first-year students exploring career interests. An academic or professional background in the humanities or social sciences is a plus. All staff receive training and ongoing support across a variety of industry areas.
At the Hiatt Career Center, we are dedicated to helping all Brandeis undergraduate students and alumni navigate their career paths. We provide a supportive environment for career exploration and professional growth. Experience working with a broad range of student and alumni populations is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of work experience, or a Master’s degree with up to 1 year of work experience, is required. Prior experience working with youth or young adults, teaching, coaching, or customer service is preferred. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities, are required.
Key Responsibilities:
Career Development
Provide career counseling services to undergraduate students and alumni. Support career exploration, decision-making, self-assessment, goal setting, career research, internship and job searches, and graduate school applications. Apply career development theories to meet individual student needs. Maintain and share knowledge of occupational, career, and job information resources and technologies. Stay current on labor market trends, employment practices, and recruiting strategies.
Campus Engagement
Develop relationships and partnerships with a broad range of campus constituents to support the mission of career services. Collaborate with university colleagues to design specialized resources, programs, workshops, and events. Create new resources, presentations, and programming on career topics for students, including tailored communications and website content.
Work Environment: Brandeis combines the educational model of a liberal arts college with the resources of a research university. At our core, we are a medium-sized residential campus that provides a robust in-person experience for students and community members. Hiatt staff work 35 hours per week on a hybrid schedule, with flexible hours when available. Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend work may be required.

Salary Ranges: Career Counselor: $60,000 - $65,000
