About Job

PACTT Learning Center is seeking a part-time school social worker (3-4 days per week) to support students with autism in a fully integrated educational program in a private, therapeutic day school.

The Social Worker will join our current therapy team, which includes an LCSW, two speech / language pathologists, and an occupational therapist. The social workers are responsible for conducting ongoing social emotional evaluations and assessments of individuals, and maintaining an ongoing caseload of individual and group therapy sessions. This process includes writing, reviewing and updating individual education plans (IEPs) closely with staff to develop a comprehensive and effective program for students.

Though the primary responsibilities of the position reside at the therapeutic day school, PACTTs social workers provides valuable support to the residential programs by acting as emergency on-call contact 4-6 weekends per year.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work
  • Valid Illinois School Board of Education (ISBE) Professional Educator License with School Social Worker endorsement.
  • Minimum 2 year experience in direct service of people with disabilities
  • Knowledge of school social work including assessment, evaluation and implementation of plans and procedures,
  • Proficiency in computer word processing and programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Apps),
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25lbs,
  • Ability to twist, turn, bend, stand, climb stairs and kneel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LCSW
  • Spanish-speaking

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate respect, kindness, courtesy, flexibility, responsiveness and consistency in meeting participant and program needs,
  • Provide individual and group therapy/interventions designed to meet each participant’s specific needs,
  • Provide group therapy/interventions to participants in the adult residential programs as needed,
  • Assess social/emotional needs of referred participants through formal and informal measuresDirect service
  • Coordinate and implement social-emotional literacy curriculum and/or programming (individuals, small-group, or program-wide)

Administrative / Professional

  • Write and update all designated and required written work including individual education plans, annual reviews, staffing reports, diagnostic evaluations and others as needed,
  • Communicate and consult with classroom staff, vocational staff, residential staff and school district officials regarding implementation of prescribed therapy/interventions as appropriate,
  • Provide training to all staff in the areas of social/emotional development and behavior management as appropriate,
  • Communicate and consult with legal guardians regarding participants’ goals and programs,
  • Communicate and consult regularly with families, identify needs, and provide resources / supports / linkages to outside agencies where appropriate,
  • Attend and participate in meetings, staffings, conferences and in-service training sessions,
  • Provide on-call weekend support to residential programs one weekend, every six weeks.
  • Coordinate crisis response for student emergencies in the school including coordination of care with outside institutions (i.e. SASS).
  • Assist with coordination and implementation of family education and / or support programs
  • Provide clinical insight regarding potential intake referrals, as needed
  • Attend special activities related to the program as assigned,
  • Complete other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

This is a part-time position, 3-4 days per week (24-32 hours). Full-time employees (greater than 30 hours per week) at PACTT are eligible for full benefits after their probationary period ends.
