A Licensed Assistant Behavior Analyst (LABA) job involves providing direct ABA therapy to individuals, typically children, with autism and other developmental disabilities. This role includes implementing and monitoring treatment plans, supervising and training Behavior Technicians, collecting and analyzing data, and collaborating with a team to support clients and their families. Key responsibilities of a LABA may include:
- Conducting assessments: Evaluating client needs and developing individualized behavior intervention plans.
- Implementing and monitoring treatment plans: Ensuring that interventions are carried out effectively and making adjustments as needed.
- Supervising and training Behavior Technicians: Providing guidance and support to BTs in implementing treatment plans and data collection procedures.
- Collecting and analyzing data: Tracking client progress, identifying trends, and making data-driven decisions about treatment adjustments.
- Collaborating with a team: Working with BCBAs, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure consistent and effective support for clients.
- Communicating with families: Providing regular updates on client progress and collaborating on treatment plans.
- Maintaining documentation: Keeping accurate and up-to-date records of client progress and interventions.
- Adhering to ethical guidelines: Ensuring all practices comply with ethical standards in applied behavior analysis.
- Providing 1:1 play-based instruction: using ABA techniques as directed by a BCBA.
- Assisting with academic and life skills development: including areas like toilet training and self-help skills.
- Utilizing company-provided technology: for data collection and reporting.
- Ensuring client safety: by using appropriate handling procedures.
- Participating in team meetings and professional development .
Qualifications for a LABA position often include:
- A current license as a Licensed Assistant Behavior Analyst (LABA) in the relevant state.
- Experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
