Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides compassionate, trauma-informed care and support to individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges, including mental health and substance use disorders. The BHT works as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment while promoting recovery, stability, and access to resources. This role involves direct patient care, crisis intervention, and collaboration with clinical staff to implement treatment plans.

- Associate's degree in psychology, social work, or related field

- 1+ year of experience in behavioral health, crisis intervention, or peer support (preferred).

Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Horizon’s quality care standards to ensure service delivery supports Horizon’s mission and values.
- Knowledge of electronic health records and documentation standards as required by the program.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally, person-to-person.
- Ability to implement training programs for the individuals.
- Safely assist individuals with all aspects of physical management including equipment use, safe lifting and physical assistance.
- Knowledge and ability to operate a computer, utilize an electronic health record, electronic time sheet, and other software/systems used by Horizon.
- Able to respond quickly to correct situations deemed to be hazardous, especially to consumers.
- Knowledge and ability to utilize personal protective equipment in a manner that is compliant with standard precautions and safety expectations.
- Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to client @other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites.
- Ability to work productively and accomplish program and individual goals with minimal supervision.
- Ability to record data accurately within established expectations and by communicated deadlines.
- Ability to locate and interpret facts and make decisions based on established procedures and
protocols. - Ability to respond effectively to changes in the work environment in a positive and professional manner.
- Ability to work in and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required.
- Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
- Ability to lift and transfer consumers up to an average of 50 to 80 pounds.
