Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Support Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide therapeutic support to families and children, utilizing a variety of counseling techniques to promote mental health and well-being. This role involves working closely with clients to assess their needs, develop treatment plans, and implement effective interventions in both home and community settings. The Family Support Counselor will play a crucial role in crisis management and support families facing challenges related to behavioral health.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide psychotherapy and counseling services, including individual, group, and family therapy.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage clients in their treatment process.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to support families in distress.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions focusing on behavioral health and family dynamics.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collect data for clinical research and case management purposes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care for clients.
- Provide home and community care services to enhance client support outside of traditional settings.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in mental health counseling.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience working with children and families, particularly in crisis situations.
- Familiarity with various therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical records management.
- Strong skills in patient assessment, case management, and behavioral management strategies.
- Experience with special education or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Understanding of PTSD care and addiction counseling is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
