About Job
- Provide individual, couples, family, group expressive, milieu and recreational therapy and staff monitoring for adult patients age 18+.
- Provide behavioral management interventions, training, and supervision to the staff of these units and programs in order to implement treatment interventions for adult patients age 18+.
- Assign and track the clinical work (e.g., individual and group therapy; psychodiagnostic assessments) to the clinicians in the psychology department.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams on individual evaluations, group treatment work and family interventions.
- Coordinate various group therapy services including but not limited to DBT informed skills group, substance abuse groups, process-oriented groups, and psychological referral services.
- Provide guidance for trauma informed response to critical incidents on units.
- Conduct training programs for staff, students, public and professionals.
- Participate in interviewing, screening and hiring of psychologists and other clinical professional and clinical direct-care staff.
- Participate in staff and hospital-wide meetings.
- Participate in the Rapid Response Team, a behavioral crisis intervention designed to de-escalate patient interactions and prevent Help Calls.
- Prepare and maintain clinical, programmatic and administrative reports and records.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team plans for evaluation, treatment and discharge for patients.
- Supervise and evaluate the therapeutic work and research performed by others.
- Extensive knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of individual psychotherapy, clinical psychology, and social psychology.
- Expertise in neuropsychology, including brain-behavior relationships and appropriate test selection (e.g., WAIS-IV, REY-O, CVLT-II).
- Proficient in motivational and reinforcement techniques and behavioral management/therapy theory.
- Understanding of fundamental problems and mental disorders, with the ability to recognize symptoms in patients aged 19+.
- Ability to integrate and interpret psychological test results and make appropriate recommendations.
- Proficient in supervising and coordinating the activities of professional psychologists and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Strong communication skills for providing clear verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to make decisions, act quickly, and remain calm in stressful or emergency situations.
- Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA regulations and other applicable state and federal laws regarding patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Experience providing group therapy and individual therapy in inpatient medical settings.
- Proven ability to thrive on a multidisciplinary team.
- Supervise doctoral intern students for APA accredited internship.
