Job Summary
The Intake Specialist processes all incoming patients, monitors patient flow, answers telephone to Company standards, and schedules/confirms patient appointments. The Representative communicates between the patient and office to ensure all protocols are being followed and uses a strong working knowledge of medical terminology to address patient inquiries, solve problems and promote services.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure customers' expectations are exceeded by directing and communicating patient needs effectively and efficiently
- Contact attorneys regarding client no-show appointments
- Answer phone calls courteously, collect and document detailed information, and route phone calls appropriately based on office protocols
- Efficiently provide basic office administrative support tasks such as emails, updating spreadsheets, e-faxing, etc.
- Follow HIPAA regulations
- Communicate efficiently via phone and email
- Communicate information to patients regarding procedures being, or to be, performed
- Work as part of a team and also work independently
Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Knowledge of insurance plans, workers’ compensation, personal injury, and HIPAA guidelines
Additional Skills/Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of computer applications, including Windows, Outlook, and Microsoft Office
- Strong problem solving and organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task
- Confidence in working independently
- Typing – 50+ WPM
- Ability to effectively interact with doctors, attorneys, patients, and co-workers
Physical/Mental Requirements
Sitting, standing, walking, reaching above shoulder length, working with body bent over at waist, working in kneeling position, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, working with arms extended at shoulder length, lifting maximum of 20 lbs.
