WHAT DOES A FAMILY LIAISON AND CARE COORDINATOR DO?

The role of the Family Liaison and Care Coordinator as part of the Great Start Family Coalition and Great Start Collaborative of Kent County is to disseminate the work of the Great Start Family Coalition, and to assist with building public will for investment in early childhood. The Family Liaison supports the Great Start Collaborative's work toward achieving Michigan's early childhood outcomes, recruits families to become involved with the Family Coalition and its activities, represents parent and family needs and issues from various groups at the local and state levels, and assists families in connecting to needed early childhood services within their communities through Help Me Grow Kent (HMGK).

To flourish as Family LiaisonCare Coordinator, you will need a robust skillset that enables you to effectively support and empower families with young children. You must have a Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field of study along with 3-5 years of experience working the Early Childhood development space. You should be comfortable assessing and understand various development screenings and having difficult conversations with parents/families. A collaborative mindset and ability to partner with community resources and families will be vital.

Additionally, organizational skills will be crucial for managing multiple caseloads, maintaining accurate records, and tracking progress. Lastly, cultural competence and adaptability will equip you to respond to the diverse needs of families, ensuring that your services are inclusive and effective.

Some knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early childhood education or related field of study required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in Early Childhood Education and/or development roles.
  • Demonstrated expertise in early childhood developmental benchmarks, screenings, assessments milestones, and evidence-based intervention strategies.
  • Ability to understand and work effectively within the dynamics of various arenas including health care, childcare, education, local and state government, and non-profit agencies.
  • Extensive knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Possess and can demonstrate an understanding of various cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Salary Statement: The typical offer range for this role is from minimum to midpoint, with the midpoint representing the average pay for this in a market scope. Please note that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade for which this position belongs to. The salary offer considers a variety of factors relevant to this position, which includes knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The full salary range for this position is: $44,752 - $67,128.
