Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and youth, providing guidance and support in various settings such as daycare, camps, or educational environments. This role requires a blend of creativity, patience, and strong interpersonal skills to foster a positive and engaging atmosphere for all participants.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging activities that promote personal growth and social skills among children and youth.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address emotional, social, and behavioral challenges.
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and maintaining first aid readiness.
- Collaborate with parents, educators, and other staff to create individualized plans for children’s development.
- Utilize classroom management techniques to maintain order and encourage positive behavior.
- Incorporate elements of theater, sports coaching, or other creative expressions into counseling sessions when appropriate.
- Monitor the progress of participants and adjust programs as needed to meet their evolving needs.
Qualifications
- Experience in early childhood education or related fields such as daycare or babysitting is preferred.
- Background in theater or sports coaching is a plus, enhancing the ability to engage children creatively.
- Strong understanding of classroom management principles.
- Previous experience working with children in camp settings is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Christian counseling practices is beneficial but not required.
- Certification in first aid is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with children from diverse backgrounds.
