Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A social worker position is available to support middle school students in East Lansing, MI, on a contract basis to cover a leave of absence. This role is designed for a compassionate and skilled professional who is experienced in school social work and committed to fostering the social and emotional well-being of students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling to address students social, emotional, and behavioral challenges
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop intervention plans that support student success
• Conduct assessments to identify students needs and connect them with appropriate community resources
• Facilitate crisis intervention and conflict resolution as needed
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with school policies and regulations
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to a positive school climate

Qualifications and Experience:

• Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a School Social Worker in Michigan
• Previous experience working as a social worker in a school setting, preferably at the middle school level
• Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development, mental health issues, and family dynamics
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and their families
