About Job
Hello Neighbor is seeking a Lead Study Buddy Counselor to facilitate the delivery of Hello Neighbor’s Study Buddy Program, which provides subject-specific virtual tutoring combined with educational and emotional support to refugee and immigrant youth in grades 6-12 from across Allegheny County. The program is a part of our Education and Community Empowerment department.
Study Buddy matches students with volunteer tutors for online sessions to support their academic and social-emotional growth. Counselors facilitate sessions and program events, creating an engaging and positive environment for students and tutors.
Founded in 2017, Hello Neighbor works to improve the lives of recently resettled refugee families by matching them with dedicated neighbors to guide and support them in their new home. We’ve expanded from our mentorship program to now include refugee resettlement services, family service programs, and a national initiative supporting other refugee and immigrant nonprofits across the country.
This is a limited-term, part-time non-exempt seasonal position dedicated to the 2025-2026 academic year. The lead counselor will work a hybrid in-person/remote schedule, including virtual Study Buddy sessions from 5-8pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with additional planning, administrative, and meeting time each week. Occasional in-person time will be required at program events and at our Pittsburgh, PA office in Larimer. The successful candidate must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
