About Job

We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Therapist to join our team as Head of Service. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with mental health disorders, possess strong skills in DMH documentation, expertise in trauma-informed care, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders. The Head of Service provides clinical oversight and quality assurance to unlicensed and licensed staff clinicians while ensuring high-quality care delivery and adherence to the standards of state licensing, Council on Accreditation, Probation, DMH, and other regulatory bodies.

This role requires strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, licensure, and a passion for improving the outcomes of our youth and families.

Responsibilities include:

  • Direct clinical supervision and training of a mental health team, which may include, but is not limited to licensed therapists, associates/trainees, case managers, rehabilitation specialists, parent partners, peer partners, etc.
  • Providing weekly individual and group supervision.
  • Provides consultation and assists in the formulation and implementation of treatment plans, services, and interventions to ensure the needs of every individual and their families are met, from the time of intake to discharge, and for one year following discharge if applicable.
  • Provides case consultation and case coordination as necessary.
  • Attends CFT meetings as necessary.
  • Is available in crisis situations.
  • Provides individual, family, and group psychotherapy if deemed necessary.
  • May carry a caseload that includes the more complicated or emergency assignments as needed.
  • Provides support to staff in completing assessments within 5 days of placement to ensure that each youth and their family’s needs are assessed appropriately per DMH standards.
  • Tracks and reviews Probation and DMH documentation for completeness and accuracy, returning corrections as needed.
  • Provides supervision and documentation review in a timely manner and in accordance with Probation and DMH timelines.
  • Perform at or above expected levels and provide continual feedback to subordinates regarding program goals and strategies to ensure they also meet contract obligations and perform at or above expected levels.
  • Attends mandatory trainings and agency/staff trainings.
  • Administrative oversight and monitoring of billable hours requirement. Provide support, training, and remediation where needed to assist supervisees in meeting the program’s billing expectations and caseload requirements, charting, record keeping, documentation standards, and all other quality assurance standards.
  • Functions as crisis intervention clinician as needed.

Requirements:

  • Licensed or registered by their respective California licensing board of jurisdiction as LPCC/LMFT/ LCSW
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a supervisor of clinical work preferred
  • Meets and maintains relevant state licensing requirements throughout employment, for billable services.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and/or supervising work with sexually exploited high-risk and transition-aged foster youth
  • Demonstrated experience providing and/or supervising community-based mental health treatment
  • Experienced in providing parent support and family therapy to adolescents and their families, particularly those involved in the juvenile justice system, foster care, group home or residential treatment settings
  • Must be available to work evenings.
  • Must be available to provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must possess a valid CA driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • The ability to lift up to 10lbs and sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
