Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Addiction Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and facilitating both individual and group counseling sessions. The Addiction Counselor will work closely with clients to help them achieve their recovery goals while promoting a safe and supportive environment.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to determine their needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices in addiction medicine.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 coding to support clinical documentation.
- Implement behavioral therapy techniques to assist clients in developing coping strategies.
- Collaborate with social workers and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care for clients.
- Engage in ongoing education regarding the latest trends and best practices in addiction treatment.
- Support clients in navigating home community care resources as needed.
Skills
- Strong understanding of addiction medicine principles and practices.
- Proficiency in clinical counseling techniques, including individual and group counseling.
- Familiarity with medical records management and documentation standards.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to addiction treatment.
- Ability to apply ICD-10 coding for accurate record keeping.
- Experience with behavioral therapy approaches tailored to addiction recovery.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients and team members.
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills essential for building rapport with clients.
