SUBSTANCE USE COUNSELOR for Adaego Recovery
Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program
Houston, Texas – North Region
Introduction:
Adaego Recovery is an outpatient treatment program licensed by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission as an Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program. Adaego Recovery is currently accepting applications for the position of Counselor to provide clinical services to clients in the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (PHP). Adaego Recovery is located in a residential neighborhood of north Houston, Texas and was founded on the core values of respect for peers, staff, clients and our community regardless of ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, religious or spiritual values for a culturally congruent recovery.
Position Description:
The counselor reports to the clinical director and has the primary responsibilities for conducting intake screening, admission orientation, biopsychosocial assessment, treatment planning, individual & group counseling, patient and community education, discharge planning and management of recovery program services.
Main Functions:
- Facilitate groups from intake to discharge planning
- Ensure safety of all clients, staff and visitors, while adhering to the policies and procedures
- Respect and consider the diverse needs of each individual client while ensuring the highest level of service to each client
- Oversee or conduct urinary drug screening and following up with lab results
- Facilitate individual sessions, process groups, client and family education lectures
- Record all pertinent client information, including individual and family sessions
- Other Office duties as assigned
Job Placement Prerequisites:
A. Licensed as a mental healthcare provider with current licensure by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Committee or Texas Health and Human Services Commission as an LCDC, LMSW, LCSW, LPC, or LMFT. LPC Associates, LMFT Associates and LCDC Intern Level 3 will also be considered.
B. More than two years of experience working in a clinical setting providing treatment to clients with substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health conditions.
C. Current certification in Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior (PMAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
D. Proficient in MS Office
E. Ability to work independently and deliver adequate verbal/written communication
Working conditions:
Work week is 30-40 hours per week. The counselor will be a competent professional mental healthcare provider capable of independently and effectively managing a caseload of clients in outpatient treatment for substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health conditions.
